After a superb Le Mans 24 hours 2018, the Le Mans Classic 2018 led to more memorable moments here at the hotel. Between the gorgeous Classic cars parading around the square, the crowded bar, the lovely weather and around 150 guests per meal, the “Le Mans atmosphere” was all around! On Friday we were also lucky enough to be hosting a book signing for the legendary Derek Bell and his new book “All my Porsche races” !

We hope to see you again in two years !

Le Mans is world-renowned for its automotive heritage, but let’s not forget the racetrack’s tradition of hosting high octane two wheeled racing! Sunday 20th May hosts the French leg of the 2018 MotoGP and we can’t wait. The circuit has hosted 26 Grand Prix events since 1969 and with the track’s nail-biting turns and corners, this year’s race will be as thrilling as ever. We look forward to seeing what impressive bikes turn up here in La Chartre…

Speaking of which –  we’ve loved the classic car memories you have shared with us in celebration of Hotel de France’s 65 year motoring history – but now we’d love to see your motorcycle photographs and hear your stories, here at the hotel or elsewhere on your adventures!

We’ve been busy expanding the Hotel de France empire! A couple of weeks ago, we officially opened Le Petit France, our brand new quarters in the historic building next to us on the square. The mayor of La Chartre cut the ribbon and our VIP guests were given an exclusive preview of the gorgeous new abode whilst sipping on bubbles.

2018 is a special anniversary year for us!  In 1953 legendary racing manager John Wyer -first used the hotel as HQ for his Aston Martin team – and their families!  Since then countless racing drivers and glamorous names have visited including: Stirling Moss, Derek Bell, Carroll Shelby (seen here in his Aston Martin DBS), Jackie Kennedy and Steve McQueen; many of whom returned regularly, year after year.
