Just some of our typical top-rated reviews on TripAdvisor:

“Gem of a hotel on a typical French town square”

“We were blown away by the generosity of the staff and the fine dining found at this hotel”

“Staying here should be a must for any car or motor racing enthusiast on a tour of France”

A taster of our many glowing reviews from the media:

“Difficult to be more Frenchy!  Relaxing with a glass or a dish of the day on the terrace of the Hotel de France, it’s the definitive image of ‘the Hexagon’ [mainland France]. The cherry on the cake: an old Citroën ‘Tube’ (corrugated van) parked in a garage, in the back, gives it a seal of retro cachet. It’s no overstatement to say that the establishment behind this leafy facade is an enduring, mythical address.”

“But it’s not all about motorsport here (about which I know nothing and have no plans to learn more) and there is much else to do. We had a fine dinner that first night, washed down with local wines, a gloriously honeyed but bone-dry 2014 Domaine Gigou ‘Clos St. Jacques’, from the Jasnières appellation and made just down the road.  It was a splendid weekend.”

Jonathan Ray, The Spectator

‘Most romantic holidays in the world’

“A region of undeniable beauty, the Loire Valley and its fantastical chateaux offer a Gallic context for Valentine’s daydreaming. Nowhere is the romance more abundant than at Hotel de France, an Art Deco property at La Chartre-sur-le-Loir.”

The Telegraph

Chris Leadbeater, The Telegraph

“An elderly Englishman strode across the square. I didn’t actually ask him his nationality, but he was wearing red trousers, a Panama hat and had just stepped out of a vintage Jaguar. He was heading to the Hotel de France, which was another giveaway. If Le Loir has a small claim to fame, it’s this hotel.”

Hôtel de France, near Le Mans, Pays de la Loire

For many, Le Mans means only one thing – car racing, and those who thrive on the history of the world-famous Le Mans 24 will adore the Hôtel de France. The charming three-star hotel is famous for having hosted many of the racing teams over the years, and each of its 25 en suite rooms is named after a famous driver and decorated in tasteful floral or classic prints. The restaurant is worth a pit stop of its own – there’s an excellent menu and a convivial atmosphere between the many regulars who stop here every time they head south.

And further kind words from Logis:

“10/10. Really, really attentive staff.  Look forward to returning, in fact I’ve booked back into the hotel for a later trip even tho’ it is a little out of my way.”

“A well-managed hotel with efficient staff.  Facilities were excellent. Pots of history.  Good accommodation, good food, welcoming staff. What else would you require?”

“Hotel was excellent, staff are superb; they are brilliant and so welcoming, courteous and professional.  Hotel de France is a ‘gem’.”
